Inside the MainOne Cote D’Ivoire Data Centre and Cable Landing Station

In 2018, West Africa’s leading connectivity and data centre service provider, MainOne announced it plans to boost the digital transformation of the Francophone region with an initial investment of $20m on cable landing and data centre projects in Cote D’Ivoire within the next 24 months.

Making good on the strategic partnership with Orange Telecoms and its West African Affiliates (Sonatel and Orange Cote d’Ivoire), MainOne confirmed the landing of its submarine cable in Grand Bassam, Cote D’Iviore in October 2019, as part of the final leg of the ongoing expansion to reach Senegal and Cote D’Ivoire. The company has also confirmed the completion of its world-class, carrier-neutral data centre built to Tier III standards.

The newly constructed MainOne data centre in Abidjan is a purpose-built data centre focused on addressing the needs of Internet Service Providers (ISPs), Telecom Operators and Mobile Network Operators (MNOs), Global Content providers and Enterprises in Cote D’Ivoire seeking world class infrastructure at competitive costs for locally resident data.

The highly efficient and reliable facility will offer rack spaces for these businesses to collocate their IT infrastructure including servers and other equipment with ease while gaining access to fully redundant power, cooling, carrier-grade security, and fire – prevention.

Built alongside the cable landing station to house infrastructure to facilitate the growth of the digital economy in Cote D’Ivoire, the carrier-neutral facility will bring direct access to the MainOne Cable system as well as interconnection with major network operators in Cote D’Ivoire.
