MainOne Supports MOBEX, reiterates commitment to ICT innovation

As part of its continued effort to promote innovation and entrepreneurship in Ghana, leading connectivity and data centre solutions provider, MainOne, retained its premium sponsorship position in this year’s Africa Mobile and ICT Expo dubbed MOBEX. MainOne’s participation at the event underscores the company’s commitment to supporting ICT growth initiatives in Ghana and the country’s bid for a robust and sustainable digital economy.

Speaking during the ICT Expo themed ‘Enhancing Economic Prosperity through Retail Technology and Financial Inclusion’, General Manager for MainOne Ghana, Angelo Govina lauded the event as an industry platform that aggregates ICT investors and enthusiasts, helping to harness Information Communication and Technology (ICT) tools, skills and innovations to support job creation, engender investment, provide solutions to societal challenges and propel socio-economic transformation at a faster pace.

He reiterated the company’s commitment to providing the platform for growing the technology industry in Ghana through its innovative products and services and highlighted numerous initiatives the company had undertaken to support start-ups and technology businesses in Ghana and West Africa as a whole.

Mr. Govina then showcased MainOne’s investments in high-speed connectivity, data centres and other Managed Services, urging Ghanaian businesses to evolve and take advantage of ICT to be efficient and productive. He espoused on the MainOne services and products including Connectivity Services, Data Centres Services and Cloud Services, observing further that as technology advances and becomes sophisticated, businesses need strong and reliable partnerships with MainOne to support their infrastructure and services, whilst the business focuses on its core mandate.

He offered insights into the company’s existing investments in infrastructure in its bid to increase internet penetration across the West Africa region and in Ghana and plan to expand into additional countries in West Africa. In his words ‘MainOne has expanded its footprints with PoPs in Tema, Accra, Spintex and recently Takoradi. There are still plans to expand to cover more places in the country and across the sub-region.’

Also speaking at the event, Ike Nana Amoatin, MainOne’s Product Manager, who participated in a panel session on: ‘Data, the New Digital Identity Currency’, sensitized the audience on how data has become the emerging global currency. He discussed increasing risk in global digitalisation and the prevalence of data breaches, illustrating with recent rising trends in cybercrime activities and the impact on businesses in Ghana and globally. He used the opportunity to showcase MainOne’s products and services offerings available to protect IT infrastructure and users from these increasing threats, encouraging participants to utilize the cost efficiency and increased security afforded by utilizing MainOne’s data centre facility and value added services such as the and DDoS product and the MainOne cloud offering.

The MOBEX event was a weeklong activity and took place at the Accra Mall, Ghana, from June 13 – 17, 2018. Notable attendees at the event include the Vice President of the Republic of Ghana, Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia among other prominent industry speakers and thought leaders.
