How A Returning Expat Built Her Own Undersea Cable to Get Decent Internet Access in Nigeria

MainOne CEO, Funke Opeke has been featured in global business magazine, Forbes in an article titled “How A Returning Expat Built Her Own Undersea Cable to Get Decent Internet Access in Nigeria”. Opeke is described as an indomitable spirit whose determination is bringing the riches of the internet to Africa.

Highlighting her sojourn from the US back to Nigeria to build the country’s first privately-funded undersea cable from Nigeria to Portugal which further resulted in building terrestrial cable networks and data centres, her aim is to bring content and value-added services closer to eyeballs in the region while tackling bottlenecks along the way.

According to her, “MainOne is working to deepen infrastructure and drive access to broadband services across multiple countries in the region but there is still a lot of work to be done, a lot of infrastructure to be built.”
